| | Today wasn't by any account dreadful, but neither was it a laugh and a half.
I've been going along this year, just floating down the muddy banks of highschool life and doing this I've noticed something as I meet and greet the other people as they make their way on by (sorry, Bright Eyes has this way of making me not want to in write anything but metaphors)...the accute apathy of my peers.
It goes like this:
As we all well know, I am a child who loves art, and is very proud of such a passion and hopes that others will be proud of me as well. I love to show off what I've done, and I love it when people love what I've done. Being as such, I often show my work to my peers, the Freshmen and the Photo 1 children, because they are rampid and plentiful...I'll get a few little courtesy mumurs of "Cool" and/or "Neat", but it's all filled with an obvious lack of care and/or understanding. I swear, novices are painful creatures to be around at times. In contrast, I get a fair amount of genuine compliments from the elders...
Oh well...as long as I like it, there is no need for the rest. I'm not going to stop being a visionary for the sake of some wretched peers.
This reminds of an incident that happend to me not but a couple of weeks ago. There was one of the Senior shows up in the gallery, and the topic had to do with obesity and being comfortable with yourself as you are. The artist had all of these paintings up of larger people, and a couple of sculptures to boot and then there were all of these freshmen who just thought it was hilarious and worth their undivided attention to make fun of.
And on a completely unrelated topic...don't you hate it when your purchase won't go through the register and a hundred and one price checks become the order of the day?
Bright Eye's folkier stuff really is so much better then Connar's experimental work.
Never thought I'd love the emo-folk genre of indie rock.
